Scaling up business acumen

Cavell Education Services opened the year with a very fun onsite course in Alexandria, Egypt. Our friends at Eventum Solutions could not have been better hosts or more engaged learners.   The course:  Consulting Skills and Business Value is targeted towards technical staff directly involved with customers:  Pre-sales engineers, Solution Consultants, Professional Service Engineers.

Increasing Emotional Intelligence (EQ) and business consulting skills are key areas for technical team enablement at both platform providers and service providers as their customers, the enterprises, focus on digital transformation and business outcomes.

The Consulting Skills and Business Value course uses customised role plays and exercises to make the material relevant to the day to day life of the engineers and draws on content from Sales Solution Selling and Consulting Skills courses as well as specialised material on how to map technical benefits (of the customer’s service or product) to customer business value. We have delivered it on-site as a three day course and on-line instructor led with shorter modules spread out over a few weeks.  Obviously these days the remote version is the way to go!

Speaking of on-line instructor led courses (ILO) we have been developing programs and delivering ILO courses for the past 10 years.  Our instructors have delivered close to 500 classes on-line and we be sharing a few blog posts over the coming weeks discussing how to move face to face training on-line while keeping the benefit of instructor led training.  We hope the tips help any of you that have your own internal  or customer training programs that you are quickly having to adjust.

Recently Cavell had a call with VeloCloud (part of VMWare) to discuss federation of their SD WAN gateways, as they had mentioned it in a previous announcement. This lead to further thoughts on federation and how it might be used to handle a more diffuse workforce in the future.
