Beyond SIP: The Teams Analytics Opportunity
For most businesses, the shift to Teams was quick and relatively unplanned. Now, though, we’re at a point where end customers are looking for more from their Teams implementation. They want to ensure it’s effective for the long term, whether they choose to proceed with a hybrid working environment, or have everyone return to regular office life.
We’ve learned that understanding how Teams is used and their effect on their people work is becoming a key priority. It’s made more complex by privacy issues, where different industries have different expectations about the amount of information they analyse about how, when, and what work their people do.
This session uncovers the personas and metrics needed to effectively measure success in these three areas and start providing these solutions – profitably – to your customer base.

Day 1 Highlights

One of the big discussions of this panel was that many companies had to scramble to develop new services to handle the pandemic. It was concluded that the industry came out stronger in the end and can capitalise on the survival driven growth of 2020.
The panel also focused on hyperscalers, with all the speakers agreeing that there was both competition and opportunity from the entry of these large companies into the market.
This panel discussed the ins and outs of M&A during the COVID-19 era.
The main takeaway was that investors are becoming much more familiar with this space. This means that how your company is valued is starting to factor in a lot more granular and mundane things like how good your integrations are, if you have paid your taxes, and how your teams are organised and communicate.

We wrapped up the Day 1 with our tech innovation awards, where many companies were invited to come along and pitch themselves and their innovations for 3 minutes before a poll was done with the attendees of the event voting to decide a winner. It included guitars, quick pitches and even some St. Patrick’s Day inspired singing. This one is harder to explain so please watch the video when you have a chance and see all the great companies that took part.
The award went to Poly in the end, who impressed us all with a rousing song about anti-microbial phone coverings (seriously, find it and watch it).

Day 2 Highlights
This panel focused on what services are available through Teams, like chat, direct routing, calling, meetings, collaboration, document editing. Panellists also identified risks such as, for every service you are selling and supporting you need to be careful if you are offering a service that Microsoft are going to start offering for free.
You need to work and find the supplementary services that you can offer that have value, that will hold value even if Microsoft move into that space.
Many people see Teams as the value but not everyone on the panel agreed. Some said they just viewed Teams as the window into selling other Microsoft services, as that is the service which people have asked for and are demanding.

This panel explored the future of the workplace post COVID-19.
One key challenge identified in this panel was that people have moved, and employers have hired people who live across different countries and regions. This means that those people will never be able to commute regularly.
Panellists highlighted the office will therefore, become a place for the high value interactions, meetings, collaboration, networking and team building.
Another big challenge identified was whether leaders lead in the way that is suitable for the new work style. Will leaders work from home themselves or insist they will be in the office every day? Will they establish a two-tier hierarchy?
CCS Europe wrapped up with an end of day Pub Quiz hosted by the Cavell team.
Congratulations to Bryan Martin at 8×8 for winning the prize which was kindly gifted by the Cloud Communications Alliance.
